Calling All New Refs For HYSA - 12 years old and up
CALLING ALL NEW REFS
The process works like this.
- First you will need to take a course which will be about 8 hours long.
- New refs at this age start at Grade 9 course level - Grade 9 being a referee level, not a freshman in high school.
- The courses are listed on the www.massref.net website.
- Sign up for an account and that will make you eligible to sign up for courses.
- The site tracks what you have taken, and over the years, they will have a record of all the training you have had and on what dates - very helpful.
- After you have signed up and taken the course, you will receive a badge and ID card.
- Once you are certified, let me know via email and we will start scheduling you to referee games as an assistant referee and then as a head referee for the HYSA Intramural League, U8 and U10 (non-travel).
- If you take the course before April, you can begin reffing games in the Spring. Grade 9 courses are only given in the winter and summer, not during the spring and fall seasons.
- Please contact me if you have any questions about intramural refereeing.
Thank you.
