Does your child love soccer? Is he or she interested in becoming a referee and earning some extra money? HYSA needs few more referees this coming spring. We are still finalizing the current referee roster, but expect that we will require approximately ten new referees this season. If your child is interested, please notify Intramural Referee Coordinator Sean Perera at by Friday, March 11.
If you will be 12 or 13 years old on April 1st, 2016, please do the following. Potential referees who meet these requirements will be selected on a first come, first serve basis.
- Notify Sean Perera that you are interested
- Complete ~1.5 hours of web based home pre-training that needs to be completed prior to attending the training course.
- To cover training expenses, send a check for $20 made payable to “Holliston Youth Soccer Association” to PO Box 6003, Holliston MA 01746.
- Attend a 3-hour training course in Holliston on Saturday, March 26 from 9:00 am to noon. Location to be determined.
Once you complete the training, you will be a referee-in-training and you will get on-the-job training with an experienced referee at U8 and U10 intramural games in Holliston during the spring soccer season. Once a new referee is ready, he or she will be tested and then receive solo assignments. Referees-in-training are paid $13 per game and experienced refs are paid $16 per game.
If you will be 14 years or older on April 1st, 2016, go to the www.massref.net web site. On the left side of the web page look for certification courses under “Become a Referee” and choose the entry level Grade 8 course that suits your schedule. Once you complete the course, contact both the Intramural and the Travel Referee Coordinators to let them know you have completed your Grade 8 certification course.
